Oily Acne
Oily, problem skin requires a careful combination of AHA and BHA pore-cleaning exfoliants, along with antiseptic botanicals like natural Green Tea and Calendula to effectively reduce breakouts. This routine helps to disinfect, calm, control oil and clear clogged pores without causing irritation or drying out the skin. Your problem skin will be clear, more even-toned, healthy and balanced with fewer blemishes.
Key Ingredients
Salicylic Acid - exfoliating BHA to clear acne-causing congestion from deep within the pores.
Lactic Acid - exfoliating AHA to fade post-breakout scarring.
Niacinamide - helpful for severe acne, especially inflammatory forms like papules and pustules. Over time, you may see fewer lesions and improved skin texture.
Centella - healing and antibacterial properties, making it great for dry or sensitive skin, also a powerful ingredient for those with acne scars. In many ways, it serves as a shield for the skin to keep it moisturised and prevent signs of ageing.
Green Tea - can help improve the lesions, redness, and irritated skin that acne causes.
Cleanse
Step 1.
Salicylic acid is an anti-inflammatory ingredient that can cut through sebum, enter pores, and clear blackheads. These qualities make salicylic acid one of the best ingredients for oily or sensitive skin with acne or rosacea. Its low pH gently exfoliates your skin and helps other skin care products in your regimen absorb into the skin, making them more effective. Depending on your Baumann Skin Type, it may be best to use a salicylic acid cleanser only once a day as the first step in your morning skin care routine.
Acne Treatment
Step 2
Acne treatments contain ingredients such as salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, silver, and others to improve and prevent acne and clogged pores.
Skin Brightening
Step 3
These skin-lightening products contain ingredients such as vitamin C, niacinamide, kojic acid, and others that brighten dark spots, creating a more even skin tone.
SPF
Step 4
Zinc oxide and iron oxide are the active sunscreen ingredients in physical SPFs. These sunscreens are noncomedogenic, meaning they will not clog your pores, and they do not contain parabens, phthalates, or chemical ingredients.
Foaming Cleanser
Step 1
Foaming cleansers are face washes that remove oil from your skin’s surface and give you a fresh, squeaky-clean feeling. Foaming cleansers won’t clog pores and are ideal for oily and acne-prone skin types. They are also the best cleansers to remove makeup and sunscreen. These cleansers are usually gel cleansers that vary from mild foaming to very foamy. If used once a day, foaming cleansers should be used as the first step in your evening skin care regimen. Dry skin types should use nonfoaming cleansers instead of foaming cleansers.
Acne Treatment
Step 2
Acne treatments contain ingredients such as salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, silver, and others to improve and prevent acne and clogged pores.
Light moisturiser
Step 3
These light moisturizers are best for slightly oily or combination skin types, as they lightly hydrate your skin without clogging pores.
Low strength retinol
Step 4
Low-strength retinoid products contain 0.025% tretinoin equivalent strength or less, thus minimizing common side effects such as dryness and flaking. Low-strength retinoids can also be good options for certain dry or sensitive skin types.

THE SYMPTOMS OF SKIN TYPE 1
EXTREMELY OILY SKIN
This is someone who produces a lot of oil and may have larger pores. You may get very shiny and greasy throughout the day.
If your face gets shiny a couple of hours after washing your face, it might be because you used something too strong. However, a true oily skin type is when your skin is still oily and shiny, even while using gentle products. If you’re somebody who has to blot their skin and powder your face often, and you feel like you are very oily all the time, then you may identify with this skin type.
LARGE PORES ON ENTIRE FACE
People that have large pores on their face usually have oily skin. So, if you’re someone who has large pores in the t-zone and they extend out to your cheek area, then you might have Skin Type 1.
CONSTANT, SEVERE ACNE
This is someone who gets blemishes every day. These aren’t lingering blemishes that are still healing, but brand new blemishes that consistently pop up daily.
POST-BLEMISH RED SCARS THAT LINGER
Lingering red scars and dark marks post-blemish can also be a sign that you are a Skin Type 1. You don’t want to confuse this with new blemishes popping up because anyone will get red marks when that happens, this is about marks that linger.
BREAKS OUT FROM HEAVY OILS
You may be somebody that breaks out when using heavy oils or pore-clogging ingredients. If you have to be very careful with what you use because you feel like products break you and you get whiteheads and blemishes, this may be you.
WANTS CLEARER, SMOOTHER SKIN
If you want clearer and smoother skin but are someone that gets consistent breakouts and deals with excessive oiliness, obviously you want to keep that managed and keep your skin clear and even-toned. Our treatment recommendations for Skin Type 1 help address this.
TEENS & ADULTS UP TO 25 YEARS OLD
Typically, someone that is a Skin Type 1 will be in their teen years or up to about 25 years old. That’s not to say you can’t be this Skin Type if you’re outside this age range, but this is the most common age range where you would be more breakout-prone.
