THE SYMPTOMS OF SKIN TYPE 8
FEELS DRY YEAR ROUND AND NEEDS HYDRATION
This is someone who feels like their skin is drinking up moisture every time you apply a moisturiser. You can tolerate heavy products and you’re not worried about clogged pores or breaking out.
MAY HAVE ENLARGED PORES
You also might have enlarged pores, mostly in the T-zone, and you could have some blackheads as well. As you get older you may notice that your pores have gotten larger. This skin type routine focuses on maintaining smooth skin texture.
MAY HAVE HYPERPIGMENTATION
You may or may not have hyperpigmentation, freckles, brown spots, or melasma, and these spots may have gotten larger or darker with age. You can still be a Skin Type 8 if you don’t, but it’s not uncommon for people with these conditions to fit into this skin type.
HISTORY OF EXCESSIVE SUN EXPOSURE
Coming back to the sun damage issue, in this skin type we are really focused on those that have a lot of sun damage, more than other people. If you’re noticing that your skin is more crepey with noticeable damage and sunspots, then you might be a Skin Type 8.
BROKEN CAPILLARIES
Something else that is common with this skin type is visible, broken capillaries. Any skin type can have this issue, but if you have had a lot of sun exposure you may have broken capillaries that extend out onto your cheeks, which is an indicator for Skin Type 8. You may not necessarily get red easily, the broken capillaries may just always be there.
Some of the other skin types address redness and flushing, but that isn’t what we’re talking about in this case. We are talking about visible capillaries that are becoming more prominent and are more like broken capillaries from sun exposure.
NOTICING LOSS OF TONE AND ELASTICITY, CONCERNED ABOUT AGEING
If you’re noticing that your skin isn’t looking as firm as it once did and you really want to focus on preventative and anti-aging, along with trying to reverse some of your aged skin, this skin type may represent you.
40+ YEARS OLD
The typical age of someone with Skin Type 8 is 40 and older. When you hit 40, the skin circulation starts slowing down and focus shifts to anti-aging concerns that you might have with your skin.
