THE 9 DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES
Oily / Congested / Acne
Skin Type 1
Skin type 1 is characterised by oily, problem skin and exhibits the most severe breakouts of all the types. This skin type requires a careful blend of AHA and BHA pore-clearing exfoliants, along with antiseptic botanicals to effectively reduce breakouts.
Normal - Oily / Combination / Occasional Breakouts
skin type 2
Skin type 2 is oily in the t-zone but may experience dryness or tightness elsewhere. This type may get occasional, mild breakouts and requires a careful blend of non-drying, pore-clearing exfoliants. Hydrating antioxidants help to prevent signs of visible ageing.
Oily / Combination / Sensitive / Consistent Breakouts
skin type 3
Skin type 3 produces oil mostly in the t-zone but may experience tightness, redness or irritation, especially when using harsh, drying products. This skin type experiences consistent breakouts and clogged pores. It requires a careful blend of antibacterial BHAs and soothing botanicals for oil-free hydration.
Oily / Combination / Sensitive / Occasional Breakouts
skin type 4
Skin type 4 produces oil in the t-zone but may experience dryness or tightness elsewhere. This type may become red and flush easily and may break out from heavy moisturisers. It requires calming, pore-clearing ingredients like BHAs that won’t leave skin feeling dry or irritated.
Normal / Sensitive / Red / Anti-Aging
skin type 5
Skin type 5 produces some oil in the summer but may feel dry or tight in the winter. This type experiences consistent redness or rosacea and requires gentle exfoliants and soothing nourishment to reduce redness as well as prevent visible signs of ageing.
Normal / Anti-Aging
skin type 6
Skin type 6 produces some oil in the summer but may feel dry or tight in the winter. It requires high concentrations of AHA exfoliants to boost cellular turnover and potent antioxidants to brighten the complexion and prevent visible signs of ageing.
Dry / Dull / Sagging
skin type 7
Skin type 7 feels dry and tight year-round. This skin type looks tired, is in need of a glow and may have loss of elasticity. It requires energising ingredients, firming peptides and a high concentration of AHA exfoliants to boost cellular turnover and even out the complexion.
Dry / Sun Damaged / Ageing
skin type 8
Skin type 8 feels dry and tight year-round. This type has a history of excessive sun exposure, which may have lead to brown spots, broken capillaries and loss of elasticity. It requires brightening ingredients to even out skin tone as well as AHA exfoliants to boost cellular turnover and peptides to firm.
Dry / Sensitive / Red / Ageing
skin type 9
Skin type 9 feels dry and tight year-round and exhibits loss of elasticity. This skin type experiences consistent redness or rosacea and gets easily irritated, especially by harsh, drying products. It requires calming, brightening ingredients to combat redness as well as peptides to provide soothing, anti-aging benefits.
