What does Licorice Root Extract do?
Licorice Extract contains 3 key active components (liquirtin, glabridin and glycyrrhizin) which work as an inhibitor of Tyrosinase, the enzyme that promotes the production of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour. When overproduced, hyperpigmentation caused by ageing and sun exposure, can appear on the upper layers of the skin which becomes visible as dark spots or patches resulting in uneven skin tone.
One of its components, Glabridin, contains Licochalocne which helps balance oil production in your skin. This soothing, anti-oxidant can also help calm the skin and is often used in cosmetics to help reduce redness, making this ingredient suitable for all skin types, including oily and sensitive skin.
